Encaustics are very durable due to the fact that wax is impervious to moisture. Because of this it will not deteriorate.
Like all fine art, it is best not to expose it to direct sunlight or excessive heat. Avoid temperatures below 1 degree Celsius or above 50 degrees Celsius. Extreme heat may melt encaustic wax medium. The painting should be treated carefully because the surface can be scratched, gouged or chipped if handled roughly. When moving the painting, protect the surface and edges. An encaustic painting does perfectly fine in your home. Occasionally, gently wipe dust off of your piece with a clean and lint-free rag
